If I promise a 36-hour turnaround, I should be able to point to the exact parts, labor, and truck that will make it happen.

So does that mean you should never trust a rush order? No. It means you need to check three things before you pay for speed:
- Is it a parts problem or a design problem? Parts can move fast. Redesigning a fan curve cannot.
- What's the failure mode? If an oil pressure sensor tripped, ask for the pressure readings before the trip. If a Honeywell thermostat keeps locking out, find out what caused the lockout.
- What's the real cost of a missed date? A guaranteed arrival date is worth real money. But only if the vendor can substantiate it.
